Raise your hand if you’re on the probiotic bandwagon! Whether you’re taking a probiotic supplement or eating more probiotic-rich foods, probiotics are a wonderful way to support your digestive health.
Kefir vs Yogurt?
Probiotics come in many different strains. Kefer by Lifeway has 12 live and active probiotic cultures. That’s more than most yogurts (my organic yogurt from Aldi only has 6).
Kefir is usually right next to the yogurt in the grocery store. It is similar to a drinkable yogurt and has a super long shelf life after opening! Nutritionally, it is low in fat and high in protein.
- 1 cup kefir
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- ½ frozen banana
- 2 scoops Chocolate Protein Powder (21 g protein)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Just blend everything together except the chia seeds. Add ice if the frozen fruit doesn’t thicken it enough. Sprinkle chia seeds on top and dig in!
Exchanges: 4 protein, ¾ starch, 1 ½ fruit, 1 fat
