While all types of oats are effective in lowering cholesterol, steel cut oats (also known as Irish Oats) are the least processed and contain the most soluble fiber per ounce. This crockpot breakfast uses banana bread ingredients like ground cinnamon and nutmeg. Flax seeds give extra fiber and healthy fats.

1 ½ cup of steel cut oats

2 small ripe bananas

3 tablespoons ground flax seeds

6 cups water

1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

½ teaspoons ground nutmeg

Place all ingredients in a crock pot. Set to low for 8 hours (overnight). Mash up the two bananas and stir it into the oats. Serve hot.
